Psychosis describes a state wherein one’s mind loses contact with reality. Effecting information processing, psychosis causes individuals to experience (e.g. hear, see, feel) things that are, in reality, not present. Psychosis may also lead to delusional thinking. For instance, individuals may grow paranoid that others are conspiring against them.
